Privacy policy

Plain language, no surprises. Last updated 7 October 2026.

VegYatra (vegyatra.com) helps travellers find vegetarian, vegan, Jain and eggless food abroad. You can browse everything without an account. This page explains what we store if you do sign in, and how to have it removed.

Browsing without an account

We keep anonymous usage counts (for example, how many people viewed a place or tapped Directions) so we know which cities need more work. These counts use a random identifier stored in your browser; they do not include your name, email or exact location.

If you allow it, your browser shares your location with the site so we can sort places by distance. The location is used in your browser only and is never sent to our servers.

Your filter choices and last-used country are remembered in your browser so the site opens where you left off.

When you sign in with Google or Facebook

Sign-in is handled by Google or Facebook. We receive and store only:

your name
your email address
your profile photo

We never see your password. We do not post on your behalf, read your contacts or access anything else in your Google or Facebook account.

What we store when you use the site

Reviews and star ratings you write, shown publicly with your first name only.
Confirmations such as "still pure veg?" answers, shown only as totals.
Your list of saved places, visible only to you.
Places you add, including any photo you upload, checked by our team before they are published.
Promotion requests from restaurant owners, including the business email and phone you give us so we can get in touch.

Where it is stored and who can see it

Data is stored with Supabase (database and photo storage) in Singapore, and the website is served by Cloudflare. Only the site owner can see non-public data such as your email or saved list. We do not sell or share personal data with anyone else, and we do not show advertising networks your data.

Deleting your account or your data

You can ask for your account and everything linked to it to be deleted at any time. See the data deletion instructions. Deletion removes your profile, reviews, confirmations, saved list and submissions. Approved places you added stay listed, without your name.

Cookies

We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare, which serves the site, counts page views without cookies and without identifying you. Signing in sets a session so you stay logged in; browser storage keeps your preferences. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap, which may record the usual server logs for image requests.

Children

VegYatra is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
